People in small towns or areas around Dallas tend to be pretty hostile if they don't know you and you don't immediately come off as country. There are some very backwoods people around the fringes of the city ( my neighbor has a confederate flag on his truck ) and you can even find yourself at odds with some ultra conservative suburban mom's who don't appreciate you not adhering to their hetero-normative world view. That being said you really need to be aware of your circumstances. Lots of parts of fort Worth now are pretty trendy and also totally fine. Dallas has one of the largest gay communities, and lots of resources but you probably won't ever need them. If you're in any main part of the city, it's totally fine. ![]() Obviously, you didn't mean everyone is like that, what you were inquiring was to what degree is the atmosphere like. In my opinion you shouldn't feel bad for asking this question, Texas is an overwhelmingly Christian state, and it's very prevalent in the media and politics.
